How it works and your common questions answered

Step 1: Consultation & Pricing

The first thing to do is to get in touch for a free consultation. If you’re local, we’ll pop along to meet you and take a look at your business. If you’re further away, we’ll ask for some reference photos or a floor plan/sketch of your business layout. We’ll discuss what you want to showcase in your tour and how you’d like to use it. Every business is different, so while we have a pricing guide, the exact layout and size of your tour reflects the final price.

Once we know how your tour layout, we’ll give you a one-off fixed price. When you’re ready to proceed, we’ll get you booked in for your Google Tour photoshoot!

Step 2: Your listing on Google Maps

All Google Virtual Tours are attached to a listing on Google Maps. This is your business’s most prominent digital asset and powers most of the organic search results for your business. We’ll check you’re listed correctly and advise you of anything that needs to be looked at. Google listings are free to set up.

Step 3: Your Google Virtual Tour Photoshoot

We’ll arrive at your business at the scheduled time and date. You will need to have the business presented as you would like it to appear on your tour. Take special care to ensure everything is tidy and looks neat. Hide unnecessary clutter behind doors that won’t feature in your tour and make sure that desks are tidy and bins are empty or hidden away. Your tour will be the first point of contact for many prospective new customers, we’ll help ensure that the first impression is the best it can be. We’ve been creating virtual tours since 2003 so there are lots of little things we can help with to make sure everything looks good!

Most shoots take around 2-3 hours, but we’ll advise of the estimated shoot time when we book you in.

Step 4: Editing and Moderation

After your shoot is complete we will process all the photos and stitch them together to create your Google Tour. Number plates and the faces of the general public are blurred for privacy. Then, using our Streetview software, we’ll set up your tour, make sure it all works seamlessly, then integrate and connect it to your business on Google Maps and Street View.

Payment is due on the day of your photoshoot and most tours are edited and published within 2-4 weeks of the shoot date at the very latest.

Step 5: Publishing

Once editing and moderation are complete, your tour will be published and live on Google Maps.  It will appear alongside your business details in Organic search results, on Google Maps, and on Streetview. At this point, you can also add your tour to your own website free of charge with the standard Google Maps embed feature.

New Virtual Tours Offer A Closer Look At Vacation Rentals

Travel

I’m a consumer advocate. I write about customer service.

If seeing is believing, then planning your next vacation is about to get a little easier. New virtual tour technology now being deployed by the major vacation rental sites promises a more immersive view of a property before you push the “buy” button.

A virtual tour is a simulation made up of a sequence of videos or still images. And while the technology isn’t new, the application is.

“While virtual tour technology is not new to real estate and home buying, the travel and vacation rental industry is just starting to scratch the surface,” says Jake Stewart, a senior product manager of virtual tours at Vrbo.

For example:

  • Hosts on Airbnb can create virtual tours through a company called Digital Era 360. The immersive experience “can also provide a sense of familiarity to travelers all over the world,” according to the company.
  • TurnKey operates what it calls 360 virtual tours through a company called InsideMaps, adding, “We’re well ahead of the curve by offering this feature for our owners and guests.”
  • Vacasa has a deal with Matterport to offer “immersive 3D views of every property in the Vacasa portfolio” to customers.“Each of our listings is equipped with a dynamic virtual tour of the property, giving guests a true-to-life preview of what they’ll experience during their stay,” says Vacasa’s CTO Jeff Flitton.
  • Vrbo partners with companies such as SmartShoot and TruPlace to help homeowners and property managers create virtual tours for their property listings. “Being able to virtually walk through your property before booking allows travelers to make more informed decisions,” it promises homeowners.

“Virtual tours are getting very popular,” says Guillaume Picard, the co-founder of TourScanner, a search engine for tours and travel activities. He notes that in addition to vacation rentals, many destinations have begun using these digital immersive experiences to sell tours.

This is going to be a breakout year for virtual tours, experts predict.

What is a virtual tour of a vacation rental?

Think of a virtual tour as a 360-degree, immersive view of a vacation home. Unlike videos, virtual tours let you navigate through a property at your own pace and explore every corner of the vacation home. You’ll get a much better understanding of the home’s features, amenities, layout, and other details that inform your booking decision.

Most vacation rental sites have integrated their virtual tours with the listings, so you don’t have to click off the site to start a virtual tour. Just click on the listing to get started.
