The best hotel Channel Managers in 2022

The best hotel Channel Managers in 2022

Having the best product out there won’t do you any good if your target audience can’t find it. You know that, so you’ve partnered with online travel agencies (OTAs) to increase your reach.

But with that came the need to keep your rates and inventory up to date on all your channels… and the more channels you’re present on, the more work it is.

Online channels

If you’re currently part of the 50% of hotels who don’t use a channel manager, you’re probably spending hours every week uploading and updating rates, wondering where parity issues are coming from and pulling your hair wishing there was a way to make all this easier and quicker.

The importance of having an effective hotel channel manager

Enter the channel manager, an application designed to help accommodation providers efficiently manage their online distribution.

What makes them so great? A good hotel channel manager connects your property to hundreds of OTAs, cuts admin work by keeping prices updated everywhere, helps you manage inventory and rate parity and can boost direct bookings.

Sources including Hotel Tech Report (HTR) and Skift have found that, depending on the size of your property and the number of channels you use, you could be saving 20 or more hours a week and increase occupancy by at least 10%, just by using a channel manager.

So really, what is a hotel channel manager? In short, a good hotel channel manager is like a virtual assistant doing your grunt work, so you have time for the fun stuff.

With the distribution landscape becoming more and more complex, the need for a channel manager is getting more urgent – unless you enjoy uploading rates manually and leaving direct booking revenue on the table.

That means it’s time to…

Choosing a channel manager

Pick the right hotel channel manager for your property

In the past few years, channel management technology has developed by leaps and bounds. From simple one-way integrations where only rate uploads were supported, we’ve graduated to two-way integrations which let you manage inventory, automatically stop selling when you’re full and so much more.

Connections to new players like Airbnb are also a big deal, especially for boutique hotels and vacation rentals, and set today’s top channel managers apart from their simpler peers.

To get a piece of the pie, some Property Management Systems providers have started adding a direct connection to OTAs to their systems. While some see this as a threat to channel management providers and you might wonder if it’s worth it to invest in one if your PMS already offers a direct OTA connection, long-standing channel managers have one big advantage: they’ve built their systems on years of experience and are able to dedicate resources and attention to them – something a PMS provider with a direct connection to a few OTAs can’t even begin to compare to.

Now, back to finding the right solution for you. Getting a channel manager isn’t a one-size-fits-all situation. Which one is right for you depends on several factors including:

  • The type and size of your property (Is it a hotel, resort, hostel or vacation rental?)
  • Which software you’re already using? (Does it integrate with your PMS?)
  • Your rate setup’s complexity (How many room categories and rate codes do you have?
  • What you need and want (Is your goal to simply distribute rates or do you also want to set rate rules, get hotel data analytics?)
  • Whether one- or two-way connection is needed
  • Your budget (the most expensive software is not always the best fit)

With dozens of channel managers out there, researching can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve put together a list of top-rated hotel channel managers for everything from large chain and independent hotels to hostels, inns and vacation rentals below. Don’t despair, your perfect match is out there!

How to access Street View in Google Maps

How to access Street View in Google Maps

You’re just a few taps away from exploring the world

BY PRASHAM PARIKH

https://www.androidpolice.com/how-to-access-street-view-in-google-maps/

Google Maps is an indispensable tool that guides us through both known and unknown territory, making it easier than ever to find where you’re going. It might’ve taken away the fun of asking directions – Gary Turk strongly feels this – but it’s also given us some impressive tools to play with, like Street View.

Street View has been a long-standing feature of Maps that invites you to glide through mapped roads and trajectories around the globe on the screen in front of you. It’s effortless to use and has proven to play an instrumental role in planning trips – and helpful in virtually escaping the reality of the pandemic.

If you’ve never used it before, first check if the feature is available in your country. In certain nations, like India, where the government has denied permission for Google to operate its 360° image-capturing cars or rigs, you can still find imagery submitted by contributors like you and me.

How to access Street View on the mobile app

If you’re using the mobile app on your Android or iOS device, here’s how to do it:

  1. Open the Google Maps app and locate the Layers icon in the top-right part of the display (marked in the image below).
  2. Tapping on this will reveal the various map types and details you can choose to display.
  3. Tap on Street View from the details submenu.
  4. Now go back or simply tap outside the layers menu to access the map.

5. If Google Street View is available in the region you’re looking at, all the pathways and roads will be overlaid with a blue line.

6. Tap anywhere on the blue line, and the app will open a split-screen setup. The top half will show you the Street View, while the bottom will show you a map in case you want to hop around the area.

7. There’s also an option to go full screen in Street View mode in case you have a tourist’s eyes. You can access this by tapping the expand icon in the bottom right of the street view window.

8. Moving around is easy as tapping the directional arrows or double-tap in the direction you want to go. You can even zoom in to get a closer look.

How to access Street View on the web

If you’re using your desktop or laptop to access Street View, here’s how to do it:

  1. Navigate to maps.google.com.
  2. Click on the yellow Street View logo in the bottom-right, and the map will be overlaid with a blue line over roads and paths.

3. If you’re in Satellite View, you can double-click on any road to launch Street View. If you’re using a mouse, you can even use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out of Street View mode.

4. The web also offers a split-view in which Street View occupies the top half while the bottom half shows the map. To enable this, hover over the map preview and click on the Expand icon in the bottom left.

5. Moving around is as simple as double-clicking in the direction you want to go. Zooming in and out is made possible by buttons in the bottom-right corner (also possible with a mouse scroll wheel or trackpad).

6. For those who don’t get to travel as much as they’d like, Street View is a great way to virtually experience sights around the world. Enjoy exploring.

SHARE INTERACTIVE IMAGES DIRECT TO YOUR TIMELINE

Add a twist to your Facebook timeline posts

In 2016, Facebook introduced the ability to post immersive images to your timeline where users are able to interact directly with them by moving and turning their phones or tablets.

We can create custom 360-degree content for you, ready to use on your Facebook page. Alternatively, if we are already creating a virtual tour for you, we can reprocess the source imagery from your tour into Facebook 360 ready format for you to drop into your timeline for all your followers to view.

Facebook 360 images are posted like any other image. The additional data in the image file then let Facebook know this is a 360-degree image so that it can be displayed correctly to anyone viewing it in the Facebook app.

The process of creating your 360° Google Virtual Tour

How it works and your common questions answered

Step 1: Consultation & Pricing

The first thing to do is to get in touch for a free consultation. If you’re local, we’ll pop along to meet you and take a look at your business. If you’re further away, we’ll ask for some reference photos or a floor plan/sketch of your business layout. We’ll discuss what you want to showcase in your tour and how you’d like to use it. Every business is different, so while we have a pricing guide, the exact layout and size of your tour reflects the final price.

Once we know how your tour layout, we’ll give you a one-off fixed price. When you’re ready to proceed, we’ll get you booked in for your Google Tour photoshoot!

Step 2: Your listing on Google Maps

All Google Virtual Tours are attached to a listing on Google Maps. This is your business’s most prominent digital asset and powers most of the organic search results for your business. We’ll check you’re listed correctly and advise you of anything that needs to be looked at. Google listings are free to set up.

Step 3: Your Google Virtual Tour Photoshoot

We’ll arrive at your business at the scheduled time and date. You will need to have the business presented as you would like it to appear on your tour. Take special care to ensure everything is tidy and looks neat. Hide unnecessary clutter behind doors that won’t feature in your tour and make sure that desks are tidy and bins are empty or hidden away. Your tour will be the first point of contact for many prospective new customers, we’ll help ensure that the first impression is the best it can be. We’ve been creating virtual tours since 2003 so there are lots of little things we can help with to make sure everything looks good!

Most shoots take around 2-3 hours, but we’ll advise of the estimated shoot time when we book you in.

Step 4: Editing and Moderation

After your shoot is complete we will process all the photos and stitch them together to create your Google Tour. Number plates and the faces of the general public are blurred for privacy. Then, using our Streetview software, we’ll set up your tour, make sure it all works seamlessly, then integrate and connect it to your business on Google Maps and Street View.

Payment is due on the day of your photoshoot and most tours are edited and published within 2-4 weeks of the shoot date at the very latest.

Step 5: Publishing

Once editing and moderation are complete, your tour will be published and live on Google Maps.  It will appear alongside your business details in Organic search results, on Google Maps, and on Streetview. At this point, you can also add your tour to your own website free of charge with the standard Google Maps embed feature.
